2019 Concert Programme
& 75th Anniversary Year

Dulwich Choral Society is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, with a series of concerts and events spanning music from Mozart to Mendelssohn, Bach and Horovitz. We recently held a Come & Sing Mozart Requiem and a highly memorable concert of Mendelssohn's Elijah at Cadogan Hall in April. Our summer concert was Horovitz's Captain Noah & His Floating Zoo, and in November we will be performing Bach's Magnificat and Ascension Oratorio.

Looking further ahead, our Xmas charity concert this year will be held at St. Stephen's, Sydenham Hill on the evening of Tuesday Dec. 10, conducted by Aidan Oliver.

DCS Summer Concert Aidan Rehearsing 1.jp

Come and Join Us at Any Rehearsal Mondays 7.30 p.m., JAGS, East Dulwich

We are well under way with rehearsals for our autumn Bach concert, and in early January will start rehearsing for our Bernstein and Britten concert on March 14. All are most welcome to come along and join. Please contact us on  membershipdcs@gmail.com and come along to any of our rehearsals for a chance to participate in a forthcoming concert. Those interested will be asked to take a short audition aimed at establishing basis choral skills, and no prepared piece is needed. We are actively looking for new members in all parts, and very much welcome newcomers.

Bach Magnificat & Ascension Oratorio

The choir will return to All Saints, West Dulwich on Saturday Nov. 30 for a performance of Bach's Magnificat, Ascension Oratorio and one of the six Brandenburg Concertos, played  on period instruments with Musica Poetica under the baton of Graham Ross, who is Director of Music at Clare College, Cambridge.

The concert continues the choir's tradition in recent years of performing major Bach works, including the St. Matthew Passion at Cadogan Hall in 2017.

Our Spring 2020 concert will take place on the evening of Saturday March 14th at All Saints Church, West Dulwich, under the baton of our Music Director Aidan Oliver. Principal works to be sung include Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms and Benjamin Britten's cantata Saint Nicholas.
